North of Campbell River, there is much less traffic on Highway 19. It continues to be a well-maintained road, right to the end at the ferry terminal in Port Hardy. This area is quite empty, except for small logging/fishing towns.

Despite the snow back home in Ontario, this area continues to be warm and rainy, with highs near +9°C.

Parked For A Month... Maybe For The Winter
Current Location: Site 2, Saratoga Beach Resort, Black Creek, British Columbia

Services: E/W/S/WiFi; Cost: $12.00; Nights: 78

I'm parked for the winter at a nice campground right on the Strait of Georgia. This is a small (30-site) campground, with full services (electricity, water, sewer, WiFi) for only $360 per month. I have a clear view of the mountains across the strait right from my window! With most of the sites unoccupied it's very quiet here, but the other residents are friendly and often gather to talk around the wood stove or a bonfire on the beach. It is possible to walk along the beach for a kilometer in either direction, before turning around at Oyster River or Black Creek. There are not many services in the town of Black Creek itself, but the much larger cities of Campbell River and Courtenay are a half hour's drive away.
